About us
The company began operating under the name Hotwork International GmbH in 1986, having formerly traded as "Hotwork Deutschland GmbH" (since 1962).
The initial purpose of the company was to provide a specialized heat-up service to the glass industry, using a unique high-velocity burner system, but it was soon realized that this system could be successfully utilized in many other industries. Indeed, wherever there is a requirement for a temporary source of carefully controlled heat-input.
The prime application of the service is the controlled initial heat-up or dry-out of all types of refractory in diverse furnaces and vessels, from new, or following cold repair or "re-line".
This service is provided routinely in virtually every industrial sector in which process heat is required, and since the formation of Hotwork International, the company has carried out in excess of 5.000 dry-out/heat-up operations, world-wide on all types of plant and refractory materials.
The system is also used for the heat-treatment of large pressure vessels and metal fabrications of all kinds, either by internal firing of an externally insulated vessel, or by enclosing the vessel or fabrication in a temporary furnace.
On site operations are monitored on a 24-hour per day basis by crews of highly trained and extensively experienced personnel.
As each Hotwork International field technician is involved in some 20 or more furnace operations annually, they accrue a unique insight into the behaviour of furnace materials during initial heat-up, and are highly experienced in actions necessary to correctly control furnace expansion.
As a result, Hotwork International can confidently offer their services for the control of furnace expansion as a supplementary service to the heat-up.
Other furnace material (Chromic-Oxide for instance) will require additional consideration.
Hotwork International will always take into consideration any special characteristics of each individual furnace when submitting their proposals to a customer. Such attention to detail is important if the furnace is to be brought into production in the best possible condition.
This latter objective is always our prime consideration.
Our field technicians are trained and urged to consult with the site technical personnel at all stages and on all matters, in order that the heat-up runs smoothly and that there is a continuous and correct interface of the diverse necessary actions during the heat-up period.
Hotwork International manufacture a wide range of combustion equipment, including gas and oil-fired regulating lances, oxy-fuel burners, burners for unit melters, as well as numerous combustion accessories which have all been developed as a result of practical recognition of operating problems on glass melting plants over the years.
The same philosophy adopted for furnace heating is applied, when we discuss thoroughly the customer's specific requirements and individual problems before proposing our solutions, and this continues when we provide our "Optimization Service" for our range of LO-NOx gas and oil regulating lances, whereby our engineers, whilst monitoring flue gas analysis and temperature statistics to ensure that minimum pollutant levels are produced, simultaneously consult and liaise with the furnace operators, to ensure that, at the same time, the required melting and production conditions are fully met.
We believe that such an operation can only be achieved successfully as a team effort, which is why we consider ourselves "PARTNERS TO THE GLASS INDUSTRY"
