The Quadraflo Oxygen Burner is a patented design that provides a highly adjustable flame length and luminosity. The burner rating represents the nominal operating range, and the system offers a 4 to 1 turndown. At the nominal rating the Quadraflo delivers its widest adjustment capability through a secondary oxygen balancing valve, which adds oxygen to increase flame length and luminosity or reduces oxygen to shorten and dim the flame. This adjustment is made without changing the firing rate and typically allows the flame length to be increased by up to 50 percent. The burner has been tested with preheated oxygen at 550°C and 1200°C, achieving efficiency gains of about 15 percent. The Quadraflo is suitable for high performance glass melting applications where precise flame shaping and stable operation are required.

Figure 1 – 1.0 mmBtu/Hr. High Momentum Configuration

Figure 2 – 1.0 mmBtu/Hr. Low Momentum Configuration
Figure 1 shows the flame configuration at the high momentum setting, note the sharp, distinct flame pattern and lower luminosity. The flame is generated by two sets oxygen holes surrounding the central fuel gas. These holes are designed to collide at a point out and away from the refractory block. As a result there is no flame produced in the burner block. Figure 2 shows the low momentum configuration, note the lazy, high luminosity flame. This flame pattern is desired where a wide area requires coverage.
