R&D - Burner Development

Regulating Gas Burner Development Image One

Stay ahead of industry standards and regulations with our services that align with the latest guidelines, keeping your operations compliant and future-ready.

  • R&D since 1992
  • Continues investment
  • Latest 3D CAD and simulation
  • Trial runs on test furnaces

The Burner Development program ensures full compliance with evolving industry standards while driving innovation, efficiency, and performance. Since the early 1990s, major resources have been dedicated to continuous research and development, including participation in publicly funded projects and extensive in-house R&D. New regulations, rising energy costs, and higher efficiency demands require ongoing refinement of burner technology, enabling lower fuel consumption and
improved operational performance.

Modern CAD and simulation tools allow us to design and validate new burner concepts before installation, ensuring reliability and optimal results in the field. The product range is supported by a full portfolio of auxiliary equipment, including gas control stations, furnace control systems (DCS), automation solutions, exhaust gas analysis, and oxygen probes, along with global tuning, supervision, and commissioning services.

After our new product was successfully developed and tested using 3D CFD simulations, we were able to run a series of experimental investigations on a test rig of Gas- und Wärme-Institut Essen e. V. (GWI) in Essen, Germany. This test furnace offers boundary conditions very close to those found in industrial glass melting furnaces while also providing maximum accessibility for various measurement techniques. With air preheating available up to 1350°C and burner powers of up to 1.25 MW, this test rig provides a very realistic testing environment for underport, sideport and throughport burners. In the latest experimental campaign, a preheating module and burner for oxyfuel combustion was tested.
